EFO: Project to benefit many – FG

Federal government through the Ecological Fund Office (EFO) in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) said that the project is for the benefit of the teeming population of the Abaj community and its environs.
Minister of federal capital territory Administration (FCTA), Mallam Mohammed Bello, said this recently during the commissioning and flood control works phase 1 and 11 in Abaji Abuja.
Bello stated that the project is expected to check flooding and gully erosion menace and the age long problem in the community cannot be overemphasized.
Federal government intervention will bring a huge relief to the community which for long time been stressed by these ecological challenges.
According to him, it will reduce dangers to lives and properties associated with erosion and persistent flooding that had been experienced here in recent times.
Responding, permanent secretary, Ecological fund office, office of the secretary to the government of the federation, the presidency, Dr.
Habiba Lawal, said the project was initiated through a request for an urgent intervention forwarded to the ecological fund office.
According to her, the timely completion of this project was made possible through the efforts of the project contractor and consultant who had worked tirelessly to ensure minimum loss of time in the project implementation schedule with very close monitoring and prompt honouring of all contractual obligations by the EFO.
“The commissioning and handing over of the project to the benefitting community is expected to achieve the dual purpose of enabling the host community to take over and exercise ownership over the project, to ensure its maintenance and sustainability.
