Egypt, Burundi, Burkina Faso, others storm Abuja for Africa Cup

With barely 10 days to the opening events of the Africa Track Cycling Championships in Abuja, Contingents from participating African countries have given indication of their arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, from Wednesday.

Already, 10 nations have confirmed their participation in the three-day event, with Team Egypt coming with the largest contingent of 17 athletes and officials.

Other countries include Burkina Faso, Ghana, Benin Republic, Guinea, Burundi, Morocco, Liberia , Cote D’ Ivoire and host Nigeria.

General Secretary of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) Dayo Abulude disclosed that most of the participants would be obtaining their visas on arrival, adding that officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service are ready and poised to render excellent service to the contingents.

He said the teams are arriving earlier before event begins to enable them participate in a pre-tournament training and commissare course (Referee course) organised by the continental cycling body, Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC).
