Eid el-Fitr: Etsu Nupe felicitates with Muslims, urges COVID-19 guidelines adherence

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has advised his subjects and Nigerians to respect all government directives and health guidelines on coronavirus pandemic to curtail its spread.

The Etsu Nupe, who is the Chairman, Niger state Council of Traditional Rulers, gave the advice in his Sallah message at the Etsu Usman Zaki Juma’at mosque Sunday in Bida, Niger state.

The royal father appealed for concerted prayers by the Muslim Ummah and religious faithful in the country for God’s intervention on the dreaded disease.

Abubakar, who emphasised that COVID-19 is real, stressed the need for  Muslims to pray and adhere strictly to the preventive measures as they celebrate Eid el-Fitr.

The monarch, while congratulating Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the Sallah celebration, emphasised the need for love among one another and support for the less-privileged the in society.

He enjoined Muslims to reflect on the lessons of Ramadan and continue to pray fervently for the nation to overcome COVID-19 and other challenges.

“I enjoin Nigerians to  adhere strictly to all the safety measures against COVID-19 as advised by government and health experts such as frequent washing of hands, social distancing and environmental hygiene at all times,” he said.

Abubakar appealed to wealthy individuals in the country to assist the less privileged to enable all and sundry to celebrate Eid el-Fitr with ease.

El-Rufai lauds Muslims on patience, understanding

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state has  commended the patience and understanding exhibited by the Muslim faithful while observing Ramadan fasting under lockdown this year.

Speaking in his Eid-el-Fitr message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, the governor prayed that Almighty Allah will amply reward and bless the efforts.

El-Rufai praised “the spirit of sacrifice and resilience displayed by the community during the fasting period and called for continued adherence to public health guidelines to protect citizens from Covid-19.’’

The governor noted the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has created, which limited the traditions associated with fasting and celebration of Eid-el-Fitr this year.

El-Rufai thanked the Muslim community for abiding with the public health guidelines, and avoiding congregational worship and communal gatherings to break the fast.

The governor commended the Imams and members of the Muslim community for abiding by the guidelines, welcoming this as another example of the spirit of sacrifice and discipline required to protect the community in a dangerous moment.

He appealed to all communities in Kaduna state to uphold peace and harmony, urging  all residents to observe social distancing, practice regular hand washing with soap and water and avoid large gatherings to protect everyone from COVID-19.
