Eid el-Fitr: Inculcate good character, Gaidam charges faithful

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has called on Muslims in the state to inculcate good character by protecting the society from evils and vices.
The governor made the call yesterday in a message marking the end of the Ramadan fasting.
He said Muslim community should imbibe the values of love, justice, equity and unity among other virtues.
“As a result of the lessons which are bequeathed to us through Ramadan fasting, we are expected to continue to demonstrate understanding and tolerance towards our neighbours and show compassion to those in need,” he said.
Gaidam, through a statement issued by his media aide, Abdullahi Bego, further said: “The Eid el-Fitr is an opportunity to make sober reflection and an assessment of conducts.
This way we will be in a position to ensure that our behaviors are always guided and conform to the teachings of the noble Qur’an.” He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the fight against insurgency and also for re-positioning armed forces, the police, other security operatives and the vigilance groups.
In a related development, the governor has approved the placement of restriction of vehicular movement throughout the state from 10pm on Thursday to 10am on Friday.
According to the statement, the restriction also applies to using vehicles to Eid prayer grounds except those that have express security clearance or those on emergency services.
