Eid-el-Kabir: In Yobe, Muslims troop out for prayer, Cleric preaches obedience, Buni harps on tolerance

Muslims have been called upon to emulate Prophet Ibrahim by being obedient to Allah.

The Deputy Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre, Ustaz Algoni Kamsulum, made the call on Sunday after the Eid-El-Kabir two raka’at
prayer held in Damaturu.

The cleric also urged parents to take into cognizance the dress code of their children which portrays good image of Islam.

Yobe Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, was among hundreds of worshippers who converged to the eid ground for prayers.

Earlier, Governor Mai Mala Buni in a press statement, called on Muslims to live peacefully among themselves and followers of other religions.

“We should make sacrifices to ensure that we always strive towards the attainment of a happy society where we shall all be our brother’s keepers.  This will serve to strengthen our collective endeavour for the attainment and sustenance of a harmonious, peaceful, disciplined, fair and just society which we strive to achieve.

“I urge all our citizens to continue to uphold the ties that bind all of us either as Muslims or followers of other religions together by
showing and exhibiting the well cherished values of respect, kindness, love, generosity and faithfulness for furtherance of our collective wellbeing,” he said.

Blueprint correspondent reports that the Eid-el-Kabir was celebrated peacefully, unlike in the past where people celebrate on the run.
