Eid-el-Kabir: NSCDC deploys 1,857 in Ondo

The Ondo state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed 1,857 personnel to provide adequate security before, during and after the Eid Kabir Celebration.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Hammed Abodunrin, stated this in a statement issued by the command’s public relations officer, Olufemi Omole.

Abodunrin urged officers and men deployed to annex all resources, both human and materials to beef-up security.

before, during and after the festive period.

He noted that beefing up security cannot be undermined due to security challenges facing the country.

He urged members of the public to collaborate with all security agencies by providing credible and useful information that would assist in arresting and rid the state of criminals.

The statement reads: “The officers and men deployed were drawn from the anti-vandal squad, counter terrorist unit, Intelligence and Investigation Department among others.”

The commandant added that the command would continue to pursue the corps mandate by safeguarding all critical national assets and infrastructure, disaster management by conducting search and rescuing victims in the face of emergency.

Abodunrin pointed out that officers and men have been deployed to Eid prayer centers, mosques, recreational centers, motor parks, churches and other public places.

While wishing the Muslim faithful a blissful and happy celebration, Abodunrin said the command could be easily contacted in case of any emergency.

In a similar development, the recent ban on commercial motorcycle operators popularly called Okada by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu against night operation is becoming effective unlike when it was pronounced.

Some Ondo residents said Amotekun corps members are always out in the night to make sure the Okada riders adhere to the order that forbids their operations beyond midnight and motorcycles of those flouting the order are impounded and taken to Amotekun’s office.

This development brought sanity to night operations which in the recent past was what criminals used as cover up to perpetrate evil such as burglary, ritual killings and removal of vehicles parts.

Commenting on this development, Olufoam resident in Akure, Ondo state capital, Famuti Olanrewaju, said the greatest achievements of Governor Akeredolu was security of lives and properties, adding, “He is the most concerned and active governor on security in the country.”
