EId-el-Maulud: 4-yr-old, other orphans benefit from Ansar-Ud-Deen donation in Kaduna

Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria Kaduna branch on Sunday made donations to orphans including a four-year-old girl, as part of events to commemorate the birthday (Eid-el-Maulud) of Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

During the Maulud Nabiy celebrations, the orphans, four-year-old Faheeza Yusuf, Sofiat  Dhikrullah, Sheriffdeen Hassan Temigbe, Mohammed AbdulRahman and AbdulLateef Mohammed Bashir, drawn from the five divisions of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, Kaduna branch, each received the sum of N10, 000 from ADS to cater for their needs and mitigate their financial challenges following the loss of their parent(s).

Delivering the Maulud Nabiyi lecture, the guest lecturer, Sheikh Imran AbdulWahab, said the occasion was to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

“Those saying there is no Maulud are ignorant. Maulud is what we should be doing openly because whoever we like, we should tell others about him. Allah (SWT) reported that the best behaviour, best mode of life, lie in Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

“If we organise memorial lectures to pay tribute to the great people who are no more so that young people can learn about and emulate them, why won’t we immortalise Prophet Mohammed (SAW). Whoever says there is no Maulud said Mohammed was not born because Maulud means commemorating the birth of the Prophet. Prophet himself celebrates the day he was born by fasting every Monday. He did not roll out drums or sing because of the position he occupies.

“Anytime any Muslim emulate Prophet Mohammed, he is celebrating his birthday because without his birth, there would no Mohammed and nobody to emulate. Prophet Mohammed (SAW) was born and lived a life of mystery. His birth was foretold, his father died during his pregnancy, he lost his mother at the age of six, thus becoming an orphan.”

Speaking on the need for Muslims to cater for the wellbeing of orphan, Sheikh AbdulWahab, who quoted from Quran chapters 93 and 107, commended Ansar-Ud-Deen Society for supporting orphans and urged the Society to sustain the programme.

“Allah asked us to show love, kindness, empathy and sympathy to orphans because of what they are passing through. Is it the sadness of not seeing their parents, the tragedy of not having anyone to cater for their feeding, clothing, shelter, education?”

Chairman of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria Kaduna branch, Alhaji AbdulHadi Olapade, thanked Allah for granting the members the grace to attend the Maulud Nabiyi. noting that “the support for orphans is part of the Ansar-Ud-Deen programmes to reach out to the less privilege in the society, contribute to their wellbeing and help them become someone in life.

“We hope to do better than this and capture more people in our programme in the future. We also have programmes to support widows and empower youth and women who are in need, apart from visits to the prisons, IDP camps, hospitals and cemeteries.”
