The wife of Zamfara state Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has distributed clothing materials and cash to 1,800 vulnerable women drawn from three local government Areas (LGAs) of Zamfara central in order for them to celebrate the forthcoming Sallah.

Speaking during the formal launching of the distribution at Government House Gusau Tuesday, Hajiya Aisha stated that 1,200 women were selected from Gusau LGA, 300 women from Tsafe and Bungudu LGAs.

She further revealed that each woman has been given five yards of Atamfa with 5,000 Naira as Sallah gift.

According to her, the gesture has been extended to remaining 10 LGAs to assist less privileged women to celebrate their Sallah festival happily and comfortably.

“My office will remain resolute to address the lingering socioeconomic hardship that the vulnerable women are encountering in the state,” she said.

Blueprint reports that Hajiya Aisha had early last year introduced Women Empowerment Scheme (WES), an empowerment scheme run by her office through a monthly cash transfer programme.

From the inception of the programme, a total of 28,600 women have benefitted from across the 14 LGAs of the state with the sum of N20,000 each.
