EKEDC commences project on estimated billing system’s improvement

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has commenced a project to improve its estimated billing system in order to reduce cases of outrageous billing.
The General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, Godwin Idemudia, who made this known in a statement, said that the company had provided 7,746 meters to its customers this year.
He said that the company had also included the metering of distribution transformers to its meter roll-out plan, adding that 105 units of 500KVA Distribution Transformers were metered from September 2017 till date.
Idemudia explained that metering the distribution transformers would enable the company to determine the exact amount of energy consumed in an area, and that customers would be billed based on the readings from the meters installed at the transformers.
According to him, this is to significantly increase the accuracy of the bills distributed to customers and help the company in its efforts to curb energy theft.
He pleaded with customers without prepaid meters to bear with the company, saying efforts were ongoing to provide meters to all customers within its network.
Idemudia urged customers to assist the company in its fight against energy theft and other unlawful activities by using its whistle-blowing platforms to reveal or report illegal and unethical MD of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Usman Mohammed activities.
