Following the resolution of the National Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stick with former Governor Ayo Fayose as the party’s candidate for the June 21 election in Ekiti state, members of the party in Gbonyin local government has expressed its support for him.
In a statement issued by the PDP LG chairman, Chief Israel Ajayi, and a leader of the party in the area, Senator Shola Akinyede, they called on aggrieved members of the party to bury the hatchet and move forward as a team.
The statement said: “We are using this opportunity to express our support for the PDP candidate in the coming election, former Governor Ayodele Fayose. The March 22, primary election has come and gone and party leaders at state and national levels have spoken.
“Whatever any complaint anybody has about the exercise should become a thing of the past now going by the efforts of our leaders including President Goodluck Jonathan who waded into the matter.”
The party leaders said “if anybody feels angry and is pacified relentlessly and he refuses to heed, then the person can eventually become an object of ridicule for over-reacting.”
They appealed to party members and supporters to go all out to sell the party and its candidate to the electorate.
The PDP leaders advised members to join the Moving Train of the party “before it is too late.”
