Ekiti 2014: Neophyte can’t win election for PDP – Fayose

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose, yesterday declared that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) needs an experienced politician like him with  immense grassroots support and connection that could muster enough strength to march up the incumbent, Governor Kayode Fayemi in June governorship contest .
Fayose who pointed out that neophyte cannot win election for the party in the June 21Governorship election in Ekiti State, maintained that he had once defeated Otunba Niyi Adebayo in the 2003 governorship election, even as an incumbent.
The former governor made the statement while addressing PDP ward chairmen in the 177 wards across the state, at his campaign office in Ado Ekiti.
At the meeting, 172 out of the 177 ward chairmen at the event declared supports for Fayose’s aspiration and wished him well in his quest to rule the state again.
Throwing his weight behind the new national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, over the restructuring programmes being initiated by him, Fayose said, the move would further fortify and reposition the party for positive changes .
He recalled : “Alliance for Democracy/Action Congress of Nigeria , now called All Progressive Congress came to power in Ekiti by error and we must send it back to where it belongs. I was instrumental to the dislodgement of AD/ACN/APC in 2003 because I am a change agent.
“I am the first PDP Governor in this State and there is no aspirant with credentials that are better than mine. I am seeking your cooperation to confront the APC again like the Biblical King David who unseated King Saul”, Fayose said.
The trio of Messrs Olusola Adebayo, Theophilus Ojo and Laide Ogundola, who spoke on behalf of the ward chairmen, described Fayose as a reliable politician, who can offer leadership for the party at a time like this.
