Ekiti 2018: APC warns aspirants on hate speeches, unruly conduct

Ahead of the May 5 primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, the party has advised aspirants to make their campaigns issued based, and devoid of calumny and hate speeches.
The party said any aspirant involving in blackmail or hate campaigns as a means of attracting members will be disciplined in accordance with the provision of the party’s constitution. Rising from an executive meeting of the party yesterday at its State Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the party passed a vote of confidence on the Chief Jide Awe-led executive “for his forthrightness, doggedness and commitment to leading the party to electoral successes”.
The communiqué issued stated: “That Awe’s position as recently espoused about the coming party primary during the visit of the national chairman is in tandem with the thinking and aspiration of majority of our party leaders and members. “That the duo of the chairman and his deputy are reassured of the Exco support and loyalty as we move closer to the party primary to select the flag bearer and the governorship election coming in July”.
This was just as a member of the seventh House of Representatives, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, has thrown his weight behind a statement credited to the APC chairman that only the most popular aspirant should be given the ticket of the party. In a statement by his Media Aide, Ahmed Salami in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, Bamidele posited that the essence of primary is to guide the party on how to make the right choice at the primary and not to turn the shadow process into a cash and carry affair. Also, a chieftain of the party, Hon Bamidele Faparusi, has said those banking on money to purchase the delegates in the May 5 primary of the party will get a shock of their lives. The APC governorship aspirant expressed confidence that the coming primary will be more of antecedents rather than wealth, saying those who have looted government’s money or indulged in fraudulent practices in their private businesses will be disappointed.
