Ekiti 2018: Fayemi’ll suff er worse defeat in July – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has boasted that the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) will inflict the worst political injury Dr. Kayode Fayemi has ever suffered in his political career on the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the July 14, 2018 Governorship poll.
The incumbent governor said the defeat would be worst than what Dr. Fayemi suffered in the 2014 poll, adding that the APC candidate, who clinched his party ticket on Saturday should not celebrate yet. Fayose described Fayemi’s weekend victory over Dr. Segun Oni as a “pyrrhic victory” adding that Fayemi’s victory at the APC primary as a “fi re that would be quenched at the July 14 governorship poll.” The governor who reacted to Fayemi’s victory on his Twitter handle thanked the APC “for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times.” Fayose is backing his protégé, who emerged as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate on May 8, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, to succeed him in office.
Fayose tweeted: “I thank the APC for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times. “Fayemi should not celebrate this pyrrhic victory yet because it is nothing but a fame that will be quenched on July 14th. He should expect to suffer worse defeat compared to that of 2014.” “He has nothing to celebrate because of the electoral disaster awaiting him. The manner of his so-called victory also leaves much to be desired as it has turned many of their party leaders and followers against him”, he added. “Fayemi’s victory has made the condition of the APC worse in Ekiti.
The party leaders and members know that Fayemi has no use for any of them beyond the July 14 election” Fayose then appealed to those trampled under feet by Fayemi, especially those of them who were members of PDP, to return home. “The PDP is your natural habitat. This is the time for you to escape from the APC’s sinking boat and return home to a rousing welcome. “We also invite other politicians not satisfied with the parlous state of affairs of our nation to join hands with PDP to rescue our nation. “The APC is falling apart everywhere. Fayemi is the final nail on APC’s coffi n in Ekiti. He may deceive them in Abuja but he is a paper weight at home. His arrogance alienates Ekiti people and any serious politician from him. “He will meet his political waterloo on July 14”, he said, adding that the party, which was dead before in Ekiti, has now been buried with Fayemi’s victory.
I’m not on revenge mission-Fayemi Ekiti state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship flag bearer, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has stated that his desire to return to power is not to revenge the loss he suffered in 2014 but to better the lives of the citizenry. He said his mission would neither be to seek revenge against any individual or even a group of persons no matter political ill feelings they had against him.
Instead, Fayemi noted that his victory at the APC governorship primary on Saturday has signaled the beginning of battle to rescue the state from bad governance, poverty and desecration of Ekiti values allegedly wreaked on the people by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration. According to him, good governance, which gives priority to a better standard of living will return to the state, when an APC government returns to power in October. It would be recalled that Fayemi polled 941 votes to defeat his immediate predecessor and former APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Segun Oni, who received 481 votes. Mr. Kayode Ojo got 281 votes to come third.
The Isan-born politician was declared winner by the Ekiti State APC Governorship Primary Electoral Committee Chairman, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State. Al-Makura who commended all stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the primary handed Fayemi the Certifi cate of Return as the APC candidate for the July 14 poll expressing optimism that the party would coast home to victory. Making his speech after he was declared winner, Fayemi, who was joined by fellow aspirants on the podium, allayed the fears of the people of the state that he is on revenge mission on the electoral defeat he suff ered in the June 21, 2014 election.
