Ekiti 2018: Tinubu, others urge residents to vote out PDP

A national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, yesterday charged voters in Ekiti State to collect their permanent voter cards and vote out the Ayo Fayose-led Peoples Democratic Party.
The Asiwaju spoke at the mega rally of the APC candidate for the governorship election, Kayode Fayemi, held in Ado Ekiti, he led other national leaders including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the party’s national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, stormed Ekiti to drum support for the APC candidate.
“What is the value of staying here today, if you don’t have a PVC?”, Tinubu asked the huge crowd at the rally. Your PVC is your red card. In football after showing a yellow card, the next is a red card. We have given the PDP a yellow card earlier. On the 14th of July, give the PDP a red card.”
Tinubu urged the voters to ensure that their PVCs were ready to ensure they vote for the APC candidate, Mr Fayemi to become the next governor. He noted that Fayemi had served as a Minister and that he is a friend of the President and so would bring progress to the state.
Also speaking at the rally, former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, said Ekiti people should vote out the PDP, because the incumbent governor was not supposed to win in the 2014 election.
“We know that the PDP did not win that election. Ekiti are most educated in Nigeria and they could not have voted for a roadside plantain maker,” Oshiomhole said.
He urged the people to restore the pride of the state by voting massively for Mr Fayemi on July 14. Fayemi lost his re-election bid in 2014 to Mr Fayose. The latter’s current deputy, Kolapo Olusola, is the PDP candidate in next month’s election.
