Ekiti FA distances from team parading as Ekiti Queens or Erelu Queens

The Ekiti State Football Association has disassociated itself from a female football team parading itself as Ekiti Queens or Erelu Queens.

According to a statement signed and released by the secretary of the Ekiti State FA, Mr. B.S Idowu, the State football body is yet to set up a female football team and the association is working on all fronts through its grassroots development plans to develop football and groom a female team that would compete with their counterparts in and outside the country.

He further stated that during the recently concluded State FA Cup, no female team played in the competition since there were no female team recognised by the Ekiti State Football Association.

“I wonder why some people who are not registered or affiliated to us,  are now parading themselves as the face of female football in Ekiti.

“Using the names Ekiti Queens or Erelu Queens at different times and coining the names from her Excellency Erelu Bisi Fayemi. This is false because during the FA Cup, no female team participated now I wonder where they got the name Erelu Queens,” he said.

He further urged any individual, group of persons or organisations that have plans or suggestions on how to own a female football team or wish to partner with the Ekiti Football Association should contact the secretariat at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.
