Ekiti guber: Secondus thumbs up PDP, praises Adeyeye

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has thumbed up for the party over its successful conduct of hitch free and transparent gubernatorial primaries in Ekiti state on Tuesday. Also, he particularly commended Senator Dayo Adeyeye for not only accepting the result but commending the process as free, fair and credible.
The chairman said the smooth and rancour-free exercise clearly projected the party’s rebranding and repositioning agenda noting that unlike the All Progressives Congress that was marred by violence, the PDP again showed that it is truly democratic. He said that the real winner from the exercise was democracy and not any individual as the PDP family in Ekiti would be healthier from the primary.
In a congratulatory message he sent to Governor Ayodele Fayose and other leaders and members of the PDP in Ekiti state, Secondus lauded the organisation of the exercise and members for showing maturity throughout the period. In a statement from his media office signed by Ike Abonyi, he charged them to note the preprimary understanding that there will be no winner or loser but all contestants and commended all those who made huge sacrifices that helped to make the primary a success
. Secondus particularly thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and his team who conducted the primary. Prince Secondus assured members and supporters of the party in the state and indeed nationally, that his campaign promises that the era of impunity and imposition of candidates in the party is gone remains and Ekiti is the first test case for us. He charged any member of the party desiring to fly the flag of the party at any level to return to the grassroots and market themselves because in a rebranded PDP, ticket is not given in party offices but by the people at the fi eld.
The PDP leader warned the APC in Ekiti state not to create any nuisance in their frustration ahead of the July election as available intelligence shows that the opposition in the state is trying to launch havoc just to disrupt the peaceful election. Prince Secondus finally urged PDP members in the state to remain vigilant and not relent until the final success is achieved in July.
Agboola emerges AD guber candidate Mr. Ben Agboola has emerged the Alliance for Democracy (AD) gubernatorial flag bearer in the July 14, governorship election in Ekiti State. Agbola emerged the consensus candidate following the withdrawal from the race of three other aspirants: Mr. Akin Fasogba, Mr. Victor Osekita and Pastor Babatunde Omotoso.
The primary, which was held at D’Bliss-Tit Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, was observed by the Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Agboola, described the AD as the most consistent party since the nation’s return to democratic rule in 1999, in his acceptance speech promised to diversify the state’s economy through investment in integrated agriculture. “This is the party of leaders in Yoruba.
