El-Rufai casts vote at 1:15pm, urges patience

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state has decried the late arrival of materials and late commencement of the presidential and National Assembly elections in parts and of the state, while urging citizens to remain patient.

Speaking immediately after casting his vote at 1:15pm at his Ungwar Sarki ward 024, the Governor who patiently waited for almost four hours on the queue, decried the late deployment of materials recorded in parts of Kaduna state, while urging the electorate to remain patient and peaceful.

“I feel relieved. I’m happy to vote after waiting patiently on the queue for hours. People came out in large numbers to vote but they could not due to the late arrival of electoral materials. But they have been patient and I thank them for their patience and resilience.

“We have made case that boring started two hours late in many places so the cutoff time should be shifted to ensure that nobody is disenfranchised.”

Similarly, the APC candidate for Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Malam Uba Sani has commended INEC for smooth process. Speaking after voting at his Airport/LEA Kawo ward 041, Uba lauded the voters for being orderly.

“The process is smooth, we have some little problems as electoral materials arrived from local government area late but there is no incident of violence. The spirit has been high; the electorates have been patient and lot of people turned out especially in Kaduna North local government,” he said.
