El-Rufai to establish Sports Academy In Kagarko


Kaduna state Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai has made known his intention of establishing a sports academy in Kagarko local government area of Kaduna state to boost youth development.


Addressing crowd of supporters who gathered for the finals of the Commissioner’s Cup, organised in support of reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor el-Rufai said the proposed academy is part of efforts by his administration to provide profitable avenue for youth to showcase their talents in the area of sports, thereby taking them away from vices and other non profitable ventures.


The football competition, aimed at fostering peace and unity in the council and seeking support for the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari and el-Rufai, is sponsored by the Kaduna state Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mrs Ruth Alkali in conjunction with Mother of All and Albarranne Foundation.


The 10 teams that participated in the competition were all beautifully kitted in APC Next Level branded T-shirts for the tourney, which was played in three centres; Kubacha, Jere and Kagarko. 
Addressing the closing ceremony, the Commissioner reiterated that the competition in addition to drumming support for President Buhari and el-Rufai, was also to foster unity and peaceful coexistence among the 10 wards that make up the Kagarko local government area of the state where she hails from.


Mrs Alkali urged the participating youths from Kagarko North, Kagarko South, Jere North, Jere South, Iddah, Kukui, Katugal, Kushe, Aribi and Kurmin Jibrin, to shun all forms of social vices and make good use of their youthful age to promote peace and unity.


Katugal FC defeated Jere North FC on penalty shootout to win the competition and lift a giant trophy in the final played at GSS Kagarko football pitch. In the third place match, Jere South FC defeated Aribi FC 2-1 to place third.
