El-Zakzaky: We’ve complied with court order – DSS

The Department of State Service (DSS) has said that the service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance to the court order granting the leader of the proscribed Islamic movement of Nigeria (IMN) otherwise known as Shi’ites Shiek Ibrahim El-Zakzaky leave to travel to India for medical treatment.

Justice Darius Khobo, Monday, granted El-Zakzaky leave to seek for medical attention in New Delhi, India, insisting that the IMN leader would travel in company of state officials.

Khobo also said the IMN leader must return immediately after his discharge from the hospital to face charges in an ongoing court case against him.

A press statement by the DSS spokesperson Dr Peter Afunanya, Tuesday in Abuja, read in part: “This is to inform the public that the Department of State Services (DSS) has received the order granting Ibrahim EL-Zakzaky leave to travel to India for medical treatment. Consequently, the Service is liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance.

“Conformity with the order is in line with the Service’s avowed commitment to the Rule of Law inherent in a democracy.”
