A woman above 100 years, alongside three other family members are suspected to have committed suicide in Amachara village, Afikpo north local government area of Ebonyi state.
The deceased comprised of a Centenarian woman, a Septuagenarian and two others were said to have died after allegedly eating a poisonous food in their home.
The family Blueprint gathered ate the last drop of food in their home, which might have been poisoned by one of them (though not satisfied) and gave up the ghost.
Confirming the incident to journalist in Abakaliki, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ebonyi state command, DSP Loveth Odah, said the command received report the corps of the said victims have been deposited in Matter Hospital in Afikpo.
“The death of the said persons was as a result of food poisoning. A family of four at Amachara village ,Afikpo North LGA was discovered died on their bed inside their room.
“We sent a team of police officers to the area and discovered that the said family of four ate their last meal and gave up. The victims were discovered to include a woman of over one hundred year and another elderly of over seventy years and two others.
“They have been deposited at the Matter hospital and orthopsy will be conducted to ascertain the real cause of their death.
“We urge people to always check the type of food they want to eat to avoid this kind of mysterious death” she noted.
