Election postponement: NCWS beckons women, youth to remain resolute

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) on Saturday called on women and youths to remain resolute and determined to fulfill their civic rights come Feb. 23.

President of NCWS Mrs Gloria Laraba Shoda who stated this in a statement issued in Abuja, said the cancellation was not in the best interest of the nation.

She said: “I call on women to be patient and peaceful following the cancellation of the 2019 Presidential Election.

”I call on all our women and youth and especially the NCWS observers and others that have spent money and risked their lives to travel to different parts of the country to observe or cast their votes to be resolute and more determined to fulfill their civic rights whenever INEC Is ready.’

”We must all make the sacrifice to save our democracy. Our PVCs determine the future of our children and our dear country, she said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had early hours of Saturday announced the postponement of the presidential and national assembly elections to Feb. 23.
