Elections: Musa Amadu declares to lead NFF, unveils 22-point agenda

Former General Secretary Barrister Musa Amadu has declared that if he becomes the Nigeria Football Federation president he will run a very transparent and accountable body that will be easily accessible to generality of the people.

Amadu stated this Tuesday in Abuja when declaring his intent to contest for the plum job.

The colourful event attracted the likes of former chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, NFF 1st Vice president Sheyi Akinwumi, NFF 2nd president Alhaji Shehu Dikko and several FA chairmen and others stakeholders like Victor Ikpeba and others.

Amadu who used the event to clear air on why he resigned as NFF General Secretary reckoned that it takes courage to take certain decisions and stand by it.

“With 37 days to go before this, one pertinent question we need to ask ourselves is – what future are we ushering in? More of the same? An extension of what we have had for some time? A new direction that we are unsure of? Or a new direction with purpose and clarity? Amadu asked rhetorically

“One thing I have come to realised, having served within and outside the Nigerian football inner spectrum, is that – it really is in yours and my hands to shape that future – more so than you would have imagined.

“People are always quick to ask me, what is wrong in Nigerian football that I want to fix? What makes me think I can fix these ills? And I always answer – my focus is not only on what is wrong. My friends, elders and colleagues, my focus is on what can be made right!

“We want to build an image of Nigerian football that will make the Nigerian person walk tall in the street anywhere in the world and be referred to as ‘the guy or lady who comes from that football country where everything is well-run’.

“We want to create opportunities for people who hitherto would not have had a chance to be anywhere near a football field – job opportunities that will take our youth off the streets, football opportunities that will empower every sector of our society and create gainful employment.

“And what about those that are in the game? We want to create the real feel-good factor, a sense of belonging in the long run. In short, for those that come into contact with the game and those who would not have had the chance, we will give life-defining experiences that will be unforgettable.

“We just need to get it right!

“We will also go to the grassroots, working closely with the State Football Associations, and unearth the best talent in the game and give them a future. We will work closely with the State FAs to enhance the principle of sport and fitness in our schools, finding the best talents not only on the playing field, but also in all other areas of football management and operations,” he said.

Former NFF general secretary, Dr. Tijanni Yusuf, Fanny Amun and Dr.Rafiu Ladipo and host of others graced the occasion.
