Elegbeleye extols Chukwumerije over gold medal

The director general, National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, has applauded Perez Uche Chukwumerije for making Nigeria proud at the Belgium Open International Taekwondo Championship, a class ‘A’, tournament held in Belgium which he excelled by winning a gold.
Elegbeleye expressed the joy for the achievement yesterday in Abuja when the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation led by its president,

George Ashiru, visited his office to present the gold medal won by the athlete.
He was elated that the gold medal will likely place the athlete among the top 30 in the next International Taekwondo rankings, adding “to have our athletes amongst the top in world rankings is laudable and brilliant”.  He challenged the association to win more laurels to encourage Nigerians to celebrate them.
Elegbeleye also commended the government and people of Korea for their support in encouraging sports development in Nigeria, particularly taekwondo.  He further appreciated Korean government for providing Nigeria Taekwondo Federation with a coach at a minimal cost.

Presenting the athlete and the medal, president, Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, George Ashiru, noted that since the assumption of office by the D-G, the federation has developed a strong youth team and attributed the success of the federation to his support as it is the first time the federation is attending five major events in five months.
He added: “The achievement will further pave way for Nigeria to be in the next Olympics.”
He also commended and Perez Uche Chukwumerije for his exceptional leadership.
