Embrace peace, Abdulsalami urges bandits, kidnappers

 

Former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar,  Tuesday, urged bandits and other  miscreants to repent and drop arms  for peace and stability of Nigeria.

He made the appeal shortly after observing the two rakaat prayers for Eid el Kabir held at Minna Eid prayer ground.

General Abubakar also prayed Allah to touch the hearts of the hoodlums to denounce banditry kidnapping, cattle rustling and all forms of criminal activities.

He congratulated Muslim Ummah and Nigerians for witnessing this period and advised them to continue to remain peaceful and orderly as well as assist one another.

The Niger state governor, Alh Abubakar Sani Bello, in his remarks stated the need for Nigerians irrespective of ethnic and religious differences to pray for security of the nation. 

He appealed to residents of the state to provide security agencies with genuine security information even as he expressed the confidence that  Niger state and Nigeria will overcome the current security woes.

Also speaking, former Niger state governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, advised Nigerians to support and collaborate with government and security agencies to achieve maximum result.

He implored leaders at all levels to come up with deliberate policy targeted at reducing the current hardship militating against smooth operation of many Nigerians.

The Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque,  Malam Ibrahim Isa Fari, who led the two Eid prayers, also sued for peace which he said was vital for the development of the nation.
