Emergency rule okay for North-east, says NPF

Northern Patriotic Front (NPF) yesterday reiterated its support for the elongation of state of emergency rule in Bornu, Yobe and Adamawa states.
The group described the call by the North-east Elders Forum for the cancellation of the state of emergency as “not realistic, ill-conceived and not in tandem with the realities on ground in the zone.”

It, therefore, vowed to continue to seek for peace and collaborate with various stakeholders towards bringing lasting peace to the area.
Comrade Ali Abacha, who spoke on behalf of the organisation, told Blueprint in Abuja that: “We believe the call by these elders in all entireties is ill conceived and geared towards heating up the polity.

“We will like to salute the federal government ably led by His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the handling of the Boko-Haram issue that has beclouded the North-east zone.
“We applaud the President for the continuous extension of emergency rule that has made it possible for the security and the armed forces to be on alert for 24 hours. We have seen the doggedness of the Nigerian military and wish to commend their ability in restoring partial normalcy to the zone despite the huge losses suffered.”

Abacha said as a socio-political cultural organisation with its network in Bornu, Yobe and Adamawa states that “fervently believes in national cohesion and integration, the only way to resolve the crises is for all genuine stakeholders to sheathe their swords and come together for peace.”
“We want lasting peace for the North-East .We are sons and daughters of the zone .We are just appealing to all and sundry to let us come together fight these insurgency so that lasting peace can come to the area once again.”
