Emir Dan’Ali dies at 61

The Emir of Birnin Magaji in Zamfara state, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Dan’Ali has died. The traditional ruler passed on, Wednesday, at the age of 61.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello Dankade Gamji, made available to Blueprint said the monarch died after a brief illness at the Federal Medical Center, Gusau.
His funeral rites were performed according to Islamic injunction in Birnin Magaji town, headquarters of Birnin Magaji local council before his interment.
The commissione described the late monarch as peace loving and patriotic citizen who sacrificed his life for the service of humanity.
“Zamfara state government can never forget the late monarch for his tremendous dedication to ensure sustainable, peaceful coexistence in his Emirate,” Dankade said.
Dankande then prayed Allah to forgive all his shortcomings and grant him a Jannatil-Firdaus.
In an interview with Blueprint, a traditional title holder in Birnin Magaji Emirate and also the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic
Planning, Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, described the late monarch as a humble leader who sacrificed his six years on the throne by ensuring unity, equity as well as transparency among his people of the emirate.
According to him, the late Ahmed Umar Dan-Ali was born in 1957 in Birnin Magaji town and was appointed as Emir of Birnin Magaji in 2012 after the demise of his father.
