Emir of Lafia charges parents on education

The 17th emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Dauda Bage1, has charged parents to leave up to their responsibility in ensuring they send their wards to schools.

He made the charge on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the 2nd edition of the annual Qur’an recitation competition organised by the Association of Qur’anic Reciters Lafia, (RABIDAH) in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.

The emir said he would continue to give priority to both Islamic and Western education and consolidate on the achievements recorded by the late emir of Lafia, Isa Mustapha Agwai I for the benefit of young children and national development.

“When you give education to your children you have empowered them and have planned their future lives”, he said

The competition Which was organised with a view to enhance academic performance and to foster unity and understanding among muslims faithful across the state  was attended by students from 13 schools and their Co-ordinators from across the state.

Similarly, the Inspector General of Police Adamu Mohammed, who was represented by the Wazirin Lafia Aliyu Mohammed Ubandoma, appreciated the organisers of the competition and pledged the sum of N 500, 000 to them.

He also encouraged them to do more towards educational development in Lafia emirate council and the state at large.

Adama Umar Muhammad, from Hibaturrahm School took 1st position in 40 Hizb female categories while Muhammad Mustapha Yusuf, from Ta’alim school came 1st 40 Hizbs male category.

Maryam Abdulqadir, from Nurul- Haq and Mansura Muhammad from Ta’alim school also took 1st in the 20 Hizb and 10 Hibzs category and went away with cash price and other important prizes.

The winners in female category will represent the state at the Rabidah  National Qur’an recitation competition in Kano state.
