Emir of Lafia finally enters palace

The 17th Emir of Lafia, Sidi Dauda Bage 1, has finally entered  the Emir’s palace to begin his ascension to the throne.

Emir Bage was appointed by Governor Umaru Al-makura  March 26 2019, following the demise of the late 16th Emir of Lafia, Dr Isa Mustapha Agwai I.

The Emir arrived the palace at about 2:55pm  Friday from his Maitama residence Abuja in a simple Kanuri dress with white attire and maroon cap with a blue feather attached to the cap.

Upon arrival at the palace, the palace guards then fired  gunshots to mark his entry into the palace amidst cheers from praise singers and palace couriers.

He was slowly driven into the palace through the palace main gate in a classic Rolls Royce car with the inscription, ‘The Emir of Lafia’ and was received by thousands of supporters in the palace. He later participated in a two-raka’at Juma’at prayer at the palace central mosque, Lafia.

Emir Bage thereafter, preached peace, unity and tolerance among the citizenry in the state and the country at large, irrespective of culture, religion and ethnic backgrounds, following which district heads and other traditional tittle holders paid their allegiance to him.

Shortly after, he departed for Ungwar Doka, his ancestral home as the tradition demands to receive the blessings of his forefathers.

He was accompanied by well wishers, supporters, palace guards and policemen.
