Emir of Lafia honours 3 women with traditional titles

The Emir of Lafian Barebari, His Royal Highness Hon. Justice Sidi Bage I has turbaned three women, who over the years distinguished themselves in their areas of endeavours.

Bage turbaned the women in Lafia, Nasarawa state as part of activities to mark this year’s Eid festival and celebration.

The Emir, who is a retired Justice of the Supreme Court appreciated the immense contributions of the women to the growth and development of not only their community but the entire Nasarawa state.

Barr  Maimuna Abubakar Ahmed was turbaned as the “Dawisun-Lafian Bare-Bari”. An associate of Liman, Liman & Co, Barr Abubakar Ahmed has distinguished herself in the legal profession. She is an alumnus of Nasarawa State University Alumni Association.

The Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMA POLY) Lafia, Dr. Justina Anjiode Kotso was also honoured and turbaned with the title of “Tauraruwan Matan Ilimin Lafia” while Hajia  Maimuna Ahmed Muhammad was turbaned as the “Ya Naana of Lafia”.

Commenting on the qualities and virtues of the title holders, the Emir poured encomiums on the Rector, Hajia Justina Kotso for educating the people of Nasarawa state with strong commitment and passion while the Emir eulogised Barr. Maimuna Abubakar for being a honest and transparent woman who has stayed with the palace at all times.

The Emir also commended Maimuna Ahmed Muhammed for her discipline and support for her husband who is the executive chairman of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Board, which has translated into growth and development of the state.

Thanking the Emir on behalf of other recipients, Dr. Kotso said the appreciated the honour done to them, promising not to disappoint the people of the state.

According to her, the title has imposed additional duties and responsibilities on them.

The occasion was witnessed by dignitaries from far and near.
