Emir of Lafia laid to rest

The remains of the late Emir of Lafia, Alhaji Isa Mustapha Agwai1, has been buried yesterday in Kofar Kaura in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.

  The Emir died at the age of 84 on January 10, 2019, at a Turkish hospital in Abuja.

The chief Imam of Lafia Central Mosque, Mallam Dalhatu  Dahiru, led the funeral prayer.

Dignitaries who attended the prayer session include the governors of Nasarawa, Plateau and Imo, states.

Others were Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen T.Y Danjuma, former governor of Bauchi state, Adamu Mua’zu, former minister of FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed and Labaran Maku, former Information minister.

Also present were members of the national and states  ssemblies, traditional rulers from across the country as well as business community.

  Gov Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa state after the burial took time to condole with the family of the late emir, Lafia Emirate Council and the state at large.

He described the late emir as a role model, father to all and a committed leader whose performance was acknowledged.

He said the late Emir did everything during his life time to bring peace, unity among all the people across the state.

Speaker of the House of Assembly prayed God to give the people of Lafia another emir that would continue with the good work of the late Agwai.

He said the late emir was one of those who fought for the creation of the state and had contributed immensely to peace and harmony in the state as the people of the state would greatly miss him.
