Employers urged to accept corps members

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has implored employers not to reject corps members posted to their organisations for the mandatory one-year national service. He stated this yesterday during the closing ceremony of the 2018 Batch “A” Orientation Course for corps members held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa.
Represented by the Secretary for Education, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Isa Maina, Bello said corps members should be accepted to serve in organisations and should be assigned tasking roles, in order for their potentials to be harnessed. “I wish to implore all corps employers not to reject the corps members posted to them for national service and I equally expect that such corps members will not only be accepted but given challenging assignments that will require the positive application of their talents. Also ensure that their welfare is properly taken care of, as this will inspire them towards greater dedication to duty,” he said.
He further charged corps members to avoid unnecessary and unauthorised journeys, as many corps members lost their lives in motor accidents. He advised corps members to shun all forms of vices and corruption, as well as reckless living in order not to destroy their future. On his part, the FCT Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Bello Ballama, said the corps members “have demonstrated a high degree of understanding and assimilation of the training they received during the three-week orientation course,” adding that they demonstrated a lot of drive, initiative, resilience and ability to recognise themselves as a group; which goes a long way to show their level of preparedness to render diligent service to the nation.”
“These corps members have been posted to both public and private sectors of the economy for their primary assignment. Some will find themselves in the rural communities and I urge them to put in their best, contribute and act as veritable instruments of integrity and unity,” he said.
