#EndSars: Don’t use iron fist on protesters, NGOs tells FG

The International Coordinator of an NGO, Perfect Peace Initiative, Archbishop Digitemie Ayebanoa, has said the federal government should avoid using iron fist on the EndSars protesters.

It also warned those burning down public and private structures to know that they have no other country other than Nigeria.

Speaking with our reporter, Friday, Archbishop Ayebanoa, who lamented the destruction of human lives and property, said it was incumbent on the leadership of the country to do everything within its capacity to ensure peaceful resolution of the crisis, saying suppression of dissenting voices through violent approaches had not always solved problems, the world over.

“The truth is that the youths are angry due to frustration. They have the right to express their grievances through peaceful protest. The protest has been hijacked by thugs who have no excuse for wanton destruction going on, but the federal government should use a carrot and stick approach and not iron fist. This is because using a sledge hammer could cause the crisis to fester to something else. The government should handle it with wisdom.

“The entire problem on earth, except very few, is man-made. Peace is a must, it is unavoidable just like day and night. Human family is one and there is a need to identify the oneness of human family for peace to be achieved,” he said.
