#EndSARS: Foundation, CSOs move to avert further protests

A nongovernmental organisation Sub-Sahara Peace and Awareness Foundation, has said that it will partner Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to avert further protests by Nigerian youths.

During an interaction with journalists Wednesday in Abuja, chairman of the NGO, Mr. Akibu Dalhatu, said the foundation was aware of the genuine intention of the protesters calling on government to disband the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

Revealing that the aim of the partnership with CSOs was to discuss post #EndSARS protests and proffer solutions to avert future occurrences, Dalhatu added that the meeting would also discuss the issue of sensitisation of youth organisations on the need for ideology-based protests aimed at advocating for an egalitarian society.

He said: “We will meet community leaders, traditional rulers and youth group in communities to synergise for harmonious peaceful-coexistence. The Foundation will also involve public and private bodies on the importance of their corporate social responsibilities; aimed at assisting the large unemployed youths.

“We commend the Nigeria Police Force for putting the interest of the nation and its citizens first in ensuring that its officers were more civil and professional. We also recognise the success in tackling violent crimes across the nation and ensuring peace reigns in our land.’’
