EndSARS protest: FG holds peace dialogue with Yobe stakeholders

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Nigerian youths to continue to search for peace as government has put in place measures and initiatives to address their needs and that of vulnerable groups in the society.

Minister of State for Works, Engineer Abubakar D. Aliyu, who represented the President disclosed this at a one day peace dialogue meeting with stakeholders in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital on Sunday.

“You are no doubt aware of the events related to policing and security in our great country in the last two weeks arising from the state currently. Mr. President deem it necessary as a matter of great concern directed all cabinet ministers to visit their respective states and deliver message of hope and assurance to the youths.

“I wish to take this opportunity and also appeal to youths and other citizens to continue to search for peace, unity and harmonious co-existence, always,” the minister said.

Governor Mai Mala Buni who commended the youths for sense of reasoning, explained that the state cannot take the risk of having another conflict that would affect its development.

“Here in Yobe state, we have suffered so much and for too long from the protracted insurgency that bedeviled our state and the North east in general.

“We cannot contemplate having additional crises and hardships from the violent protests as we are now battling to resettle, rehabilitate and reclaim means of livelihood for our people,” he said.

Yobe, which is the second most affected state by the boko haram insurgency, had not recorded single case of SARS protest since it started early October, 2020.

While the governments commiserate with the family of the victims, they pledged robust investments that would empower the youths.
