Engage community leaders in fight against insecurity, Amb Yaji tells FG

For Nigeria to bring security challenges in the country under control there is need for government at all levels to engage leaders in rural areas in order to get local information.

A community leader in Masaka, Karu LGA of Nasarawa state, Amb William Yaji made this observation while speaking with Blueprint Monday.

He said the role of community leaders in every society cannot be overlooked as they are closer to the people at the local level.

According to Amb Yaji, government should engage community leaders in order to secure the peasants, urban dwellers, travellers and foreigners in the land from daily threats to their lives and properties.

“If the community leaders are engaged, the issue of daily killing of people would reduce. The local people have the ability to detect strangers or foreigners that come into the land,” Yaji said.

The community leader however commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership, vision and commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria, adding that the president has the ability to resolve the national security challenges and restore peace in every part of the country.
