A High Court sitting in Enugu State yesterday refused to grant an exparte application seeking to stop the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship election in the State.
Though a suit was filed by a disqualified governorship aspirant of the party, Ejike Ugwu, who had prayed the court to stop the primaries pending the determination of the suit but his prayer, was declined.
The court presided over by Justice A. Onovo refused to grant the ex-parte order and urged the plaintiff to put the parties involved on notice.
Meanwhile, two incumbent House of Representatives members for Enugu North/South and Nkanu East/West federal constituencies, Mr Chima Oji and Mr Chukwuemeka Ujam, respectively, have lost the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conducted in the state.
While Oji lost in the primary of the party held at Enugu north local government council to a former House of Representatives member, Prince Offor Chukwuegbo, Ujam lost to Nnolim Nnaji at the Agbani council local government.
Offor Chukwuegbo, who represented Enugu north and south from 2007 -2015 secured 265 votes to beat Oji who scored 15 votes.
Nnaji scored 246 votes to beat Ujam who scored 55 votes.
Following the declaration of the results, delegates were wild jubilation as many of them had waited for hours on Wednesday to cast their votes after accreditation but could not do so because of late arrival of necessary sensitive materials.
