Equity market appreciates by N93bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday opened week in a positive trend, appreciating by N93 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.78 per cent to N11.851 trillion from N11.758 trillion reported on Friday. The NSE All Share Index grew by 251.95 basis points to 31781.87 points from 31529.92 traded the previously.

Investors’ traded 551.585 million shares N5.649 billion in 5220 deals against 723.796 million shares cost N12.209 billion in 5752 deals.

A review of trading activities showed that Betaglass led gainers table during the day gaining N8.30 kobo to close at N73.30 kobo, Seplat Petroleum Development followed with a gain of N5.00 to close at N565.50 kobo, Unilever Nigeria Plc gained N2.00 to close at N39.00, Cadbury added N1.00 to close at N11.00, Stanbic IBTC appreciated by N1.00 to close at N48.00.

On the contrary, Total Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N15.90 kobo to close at N205.00, International Breweries followed with a loss of N1.00 to close at N29.00, C & I Leasing Plc declined by N0.90 kobo to close at N8.14 kobo, Dangote Cement down by N0.50 kobo to close at N185.00, Medview Air fell by N0.15 kobo to close at N1.70 kobo.

The further break down of the investment indicated that Access Bank Plc was the active stock, exchanging 101.620 million shares valued at N700.185 million, United Bank for Africa followed with account of 69.912 million shares cost N547.134 million, Diamond Bank traded 52.67 million worth N125.718 million, Zenith Bank Plc sold 46.510 million shares valued at N1.152 billion, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria exchanging 45.066 million shares worth N64.693 million.
