Equity market gains N207bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Monday opened in positive note, gaining N207 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.69 per cent to N30.140 trillion or 0.69 per cent to close at N30.140 trillion from N29.933 trillion reported on Friday.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 379.21 basis points to 55328.42 points from 54949.21 points traded the previous day.

A review of the Investment showed that Stanbic IBTC, Oando Plc, C&I Leasing led gainers table during the day, gaining 10 per cent each to close at N37.95, N4.40 and N3.63 per share respectively.

Conoil Plc followed with a gain of 9.98 per cent to N46.85 to unit, Mrs added 9.66 per cent to close at N33.50 per unit.

On the contrary, FTNCocoa topped losers chart, dropping by 6.90 per cent to close at N0.27 per share, UPDC trailed with a loss of 4.00 per cent to close at N0.96 Japaul Gold fell by 3.45 per cent to close at N0.28 per unit, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria dipped by 3.08 per cent to close at N1.26 per share, Mutual Benefits Assurance declined by 3.03 per cent to N0.32 per share.

Investors traded 149.780 million shares valued at N1.542 billion in 3186 deals against 119.095 million shares worth N2.501 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 2820 deals.

Trading in the shares of Oando Plc was the most active stock during the day exchanging 14.287 million shares valued at N62.640 million, Transcorps followed with account of 11.716 million shares valued at N14.734 million, Fidelity Bank traded 10.733 million shares cost N53.748 million, Chams Plc exchanged 10.293 million shares valued at N2.858 million while United Bank for Africa exchanged 9.109 million shares valued at N77.143 million.
