Equity market gains N27bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday returned to bullish trend, gaining N27 billion.

Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.19 per cent to N14.497 trillion from N14.470 trillion reported the previous day. The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 46.65 basis points to 28140.41 points from 28093.76 points traded on Wednesday.

Investors traded 317.190 million shares worth N3.429 billion in 4340 deals against 350.207 million shares cost N4.283 billion in 4729 deals.

An analysis of the transactions showed that Guaranty Trust Bank led gainers table, improving by N0.90 kobo to close at N30.00, Zenith Bank PLC followed with a gain of N0.80 kobo to close at N20.00, Access Bank PLC added N0.40 kobo to close at N75.00, UAC of Nigeria gained N0.35 kobo to close at N8.40 kobo while Ecobank Transnational grew by N0.30 kobo to close at N7.40 kobo

MTN Nigeria Communications PLC recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by N1.40 kobo to close at N118.20 kobo, BUA Cement trailed with a loss of N1.20 kobo to close at N35.00, C&I Leasing fell by N0.65 kobo to close at N6.00, Nascon fell by N0.50 kobo while Sky Avn dipped by ,0.41 to N3.71 kobo.

The result further showed that FBNHoldings was the most traded stocks during the day, exchanging 57.284 million shares valued at N345.559 million, FCMB group followed with account of 43.230 million shares valued at N84.168 million, Zenith Bank PLC traded 34.293 million shares valued at N705.536 million, United Bank for Africa sold 24.083 million shares cost N192.997 million while Nigerian Breweries traded 22.726 million shares valued at N1.170 billion.
