Equity market gains N8bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday took upward trend, gaining N8 billion. Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities grew by 0.06 per cent to N12.627 trillion from N12.619 trillion recorded on Friday. Also the NSE All Share Index increased by 22.04 basis points to 36484. 30 from 36462.26 point traded the previous day. Investors traded 174.957 million shares worth N1.824 billion in 3401 deals against 250.893 million shares worth N3.008 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3968 deals. An analysis of investment showed that Total Nigeria Plc led gainers table, appreciating by N7.25 kobo to close at N9.08 kobo, Forte Oil followed with a gain of N2.70 kobo to close at N40.99 kobo, Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc gained N0.84 kobo to close at M9.08 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Pic appreciated by N0.45 kobo to close at N11.00, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated added N0.44 kobo to close at N17.49 kobo.
On the contrary, Seplat Petroleum Development recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N10.00 to close at N480.00, Lafarge Wapco trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N50.00, Nigerian Breweries fell by N0.50 kobo to close at N151.50 kobo, Dangote Sugar down by N0.30 kobo to close at N14.90 kobo while Nascon depreciated by N0.07 kobo to close at N15.87 kobo.
Further analysis showed that FBNHoldings Plc was the most active stock during the day, trading 26.513 million shares worth N262.103 million, Diamond Bank followed with account of 26.248 million shares valued at N27.532 million, United Bank for Africa sold 16.126 million shares cost N151.905 million, Zenith International Bank exchanged 15 596 million shares valued at N401.367 million while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria transacted 14.753 million shares worth N20.208 million
