Equity market grows by N74bn

Trading activities on the fl oor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday growth profi le , improving by N74 billion. Specifi cally, market capitalisation of listed equities grew by 0.66 per cent to N11.314 trillion from N11.240 trillion recorded on Monday. Also the NSE All Share Index appreciated by 213.38 basis point to 32827.98 from 32614.60 traded the previous day. Investors exchanged 218.763 million shares worth N2.105 billion in 4991 deals against 182.070 million shares valued at N2.027 million traded the previous day in 3710 deals.

A breakdown of the investment showed that Okomu oil led gainers table during the day, gaining N2.83 kobo to close at N59.48 kobo, Dangote Cement followed with a gain of N1.28 kobo to close at N206.21 kobo, Nigerian Breweries recorded gain of N1.25 kobo to close at N154.26 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank appreciated by N0.89 kobo to close at N35.51 kobo while Zenith International Bank added N0.71 kobo to close at N22.02 kobo. On the contrary, Total Nigeria Plc topped losers chart for the day, declining by N6.01 kobo to close at N259.99 kobo, Presto Plc trailed with a loss of N3.39 kobo to close at N64.54 kobo Guinness Nigeria Plc fell by N2.00 to close at N60.00, Unilever Nigeria Plc down by N1.00 to N33.00 while Stanbic IBTC declined by N0.74 kobo to close at N30.26 kobo. The trading result further showed that United Bank for Africa of the banking subsector led activities in volume term, exchanged 35.264 million shares worth N316.990 million, Niger Insurance Company followed with account of 19.997 million shares valued at N9.998 million, Zenith Bank exchanged 18.278 million shares cost N401.288 million, Diamond Bank sold 14.593 million shares worth N18.114 million while FCMB group traded 12.191 million shares valued at N15.006 million
