Equity market loses N126bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange NGX yesterday opened week on a negative note, shedding N126 billion, with RTBriscoe recorded the highest loss for the day.

Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.46 per cent to N27.232 trillion from N27.358 trillion reported on Friday.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 232.60 basis points to 50489.73 points from 50722.33 points traded the previous day.

Investors traded 207.195 million shares valued at N2.119 billion in 4234 deals against 148.810 million shares cost N1.925 billion in 4091 deals.

A review of the transaction showed that RTBriscoe recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by 10 per cent to N0.36, IMG followed with a drop of 9.84 per cent to N8.25, SkyAVN fell by 9.60 per cent to N5.65, Ellah Lakes down by 9.-60 per cent to N3.58, Caverton down by 6.84 per cent to N1.09.

On the contrary, Japaul Gold led gainers table during the day, gaining 8.82 per cent to N0.37, Honey Well Flour Mills followed with a gain of 5.73 per cent to N2.95, Cornerstone Insurance added 5.63 per cent to N0.75, Lasaco Insurance gained 5.38 per cent to N0.98, United Capital added 4.49 per cent to N12.80.
