Equity market loses N12bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) sustained volatility Tuesday as market capitalisation of listed equities declined further by N12 billion.

Specifically, the value of equities depreciated by 0.09 per cent to N12.834 trillion from N12.846 trillion reported on Monday. The NSE All Share Index also decreased by 24.25 basis points to 26365.83 points from 26390.08 traded the previous day.

 Investors during the day exchanged 694.019 million shares valued at N7.827 billion n 2780 deals against 245.852 million shares worth N1.361 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 2514 deals

A review of trading activities showed that Stanbic IBTC led gainers table for the day, appreciating by N0.75 kobo to close at N37.00, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria followed with a gain of N0.15 kobo to close at N16.00, Cutix Plc added N0.13 kobo to close at N1.44 kobo, UAC of Nigeria added N0.10 kobo to close at N6.50 kobo, Access Bank increased by N0.05 kobo to close at N7.35 kobo.

On the contrary, MTN Nigeria Communication Plc topped losers chart during the day, dropping by N1.00 to close at N129.00, Eterna Plc trailed with a loss of N0.30 kobo to close at N2.85 kobo, Cadbury Nigeria Plc down by N0.25 kobo to close at N9.60 kobo, May and Baker Nigeria Plc fell by N0.19 kobo to close at 2.00, Dangote Cement Industry dipped by N0.10 kobo to close at N143.90 kobo.
