Equity market opens loses N6bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened the week on a negative trend, shedding N6 billion 

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.05 per cent to N10.973 trillion from N10.979 trillion traded on Friday. The NSE All Share Index also depreciated by 15.13 basis points  to 29196.87 points from 29212.00 reported the previous day. Investors traded 217.075 million shares worth N1.389 billion in 3814 deals against 356.331 million shares valued at N2.309 billion in 4270 deals.

The result showed that Betaglass led gainers table during the day increasing by N1.00 to close at N57.00, Dangote Cement followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N181.00, Dangote Flour Mills gained N0.65 kobo to close at N17.75 kobo, NEM Insurance Plc appreciated by N0.22 kobo to close at N2.43 kobo while United Capital added N0.06 kobo to close at N2.58 kobo.

Conversely, Mobil Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N2.00 to close at N175.00, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria trailed with a loss of N0.55 kobo to close at N15.30 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank fell by N0.45 kobo to close at N33.00, UAC Property Development Plc down by N0.15 kobo to close at N1.53 kobo while Ikeja Hotel dropped by N0.15 kobo to close at N1.60 kobo.

The result further showed that Japaul Oil and Maritime was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 58.614 million worth N23.401 million, United Bank for Africa followed with account of 36.996 million shares valued at N244.782 million , Courtville traded 30.675 million shares valued at N7.362 million , Access Bank Plc sold 23.615 million shares cost N163.284 million while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria exchanged 17.157 million shares cost N210.381 million.
