Equity market rebounds, improves by N80bn

Investment in the nation’s equity market Tuesday returned to positive trend, increasing by N80 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.67 per cent to N12.084 trillion from N12.004 trillion traded the previous day. 

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All Share Index rose by 216.11 basis points to 32406.18 points from 32190.07 points reported on Monday.

The result showed that Investors traded 361.820 million shares valued at N4.159 billion in 4623 deals against 233.423 million shares worth N3.363 billion in 4134 deals.

A review of the transactions during the day showed that Presco Plc led gainers table, gaining N2.40 kobo to close at N75.00, Zenith Bank followed with a gain N1.35 kobo to N25.35 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank gained N1.20 kobo to close at N37.70 kobo, Dangote Sugar appreciated by N0.60 kobo to close at N15.15 kobo, Custodian and Investment added N0.50 kobo to close at N6.55 kobo.

On the contrary, Mobil Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by N1.80 kobo to close at N168.20 kobo, Dangote Cement Industries trailed with a loss of N0.80 kobo to close at N192.50 kobo, Dangote Flour Nigeria Plc down by N0.15 kobo to close at N9.45 kobo, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria fell by N0.15 kobo to close at N1.39 kobo while Unity Bank declined by N0.11 kobo to close at N1.03 kobo.

The NSE trading result showed that Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 120.224 million shares worth N168.205 million, Zenith Bank Plc followed with account of 37.342 million shares cost N925.541 million, FBNHoldings exchanged 31.179 million shares cost N250.644 million, Diamond Bank sold 20.879 million shares valued at N49.307 million while Guaranty Trust Bank sold a total of 20.873 million shares worth N778.025 million.
