Equity market remains volatile shedding N230bn

Investment in the Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday opened in negative trend as the market indices depreciated by 1.54 per cent.
Specifically, Market capitalisation of listed equities depreciated by N230 billion to N15.068 trillion from N15.301 trillion reported the previous day.
Also, the NSE All Share Index declined by 650.65 basis points to 41988.18 points from 42638.83 traded on Friday.
Investors traded a turnover of 287.175 million shares worth N2.286 billion in 4646 deals
against 815.854 million shares valued at N8.063 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 4808 deals.
The result showed that International Breweries led gainers table, appreciating by N1.25 kobo to close at N59.00, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N47.50 kobo, Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN) added N0.35 kobo to close at N18.50 kobo, Fidson Healthcare gained N0.22 kobo to close at N4.69 kobo while Mansard Insurance increased by N0.13 kobo to close at N2.78 kobo.
On the contrary, Nestle Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by M58.20 kobo to close at N1341.80 kobo, Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of N8.60 kobo to close at N251.30 kobo, Nigerian Breweries down by N2.10 kobo to close at N128.90 kobo, PZ Industries dropped by N2.00 to close at N23.00 while Enamel West African went down by N1.15 kobo to close at N22.10 kobo.
Further analysis showed that Skye Bank Plc of the banking sector led activities in volume terms, trading 57.987 million shares worth N63.209 million, Diamond Bank followed with account of 40.334 million shares worth N106.715 million, FCMB group traded 35.341 million shares worth N89.422 million, Jaiz Bank exchanged 18.982 million shares cost N20.367 million while Zenith International Bank sold 15.649 million shares valued at N497.020 million
