Equity market sustains bullish run, gains N181bn

Trading acivities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday remained higher, closing on increased buying interest, appreciating by N181 billion.

Specifically, market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.83 per cent to N21.934 trillion from N21.753 trillion reported the previous day.

The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 345.79 basis points to 41930.73 points from 41583.94 points.

Investors traded 543.597 million shares valued at N7.321 billion in 6770 deals against 467.886 million shares cost N5.565 billion in 5990 deals.

Airtel Africa for the day led gainers table during the day, increasing by N10.00 to close at N930.00, MTN Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N4.10 kobo to close at N175.00, Wapco added N2.00 to close at N29.50 kobo. Julius Berger gained N1.10 kobo to close at N20.60 kobo, Fidson Healthcare gained N0.50 kobo to close at N5.50 kobo.

Conversely, Ardova Plc topped losers chart, dropping by N0.45 kobo to close at N18.00, Skyways Aviation trailed with a loss of N0.32 kobo to close at N2.88 kobo, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc fell by N0.20 kobo to close at N5.70 kobo, Caverton dipped by N0.19 kobo to close at N1.83 kobo, while UACN declined by N0.15 kobo to close at N8.00.

The result further showed that Transnational Corporation of Nigeria was the toast of investors during the day, exchanging 57.238 million shares valued at N61.018 million, Japaul Gold followed with account of 52.041 million shares cost N40.275 million, Zenith Bank traded 47.161 million shares cost N1.242 billion, FBNHoldings sold a total of 38.075 million shares valued at N284.686 million while United Bank for Africa exchanged 32.535 million worth N291.729 million.
