Error on ‘First Class’ degrees, technical – UniJos

The University of Jos has explained that technical errors caused it to wrongly allocate First Class degrees to graduands in its online portal.
Premium Times on Saturday reported how many graduating law students opened the university’s portal to see they had been wrongly awarded First Class degrees.
The university yesterday said it did not deliberately award the degrees to unqualified students in the forthcoming convocation.
A press statement by the Principal Assistant Registrar (Information and Publications), Abdullahi Abdullah, said the graduands’ website created by the university is to correct errors by students and is not the final list for the convocation.
“For the purpose of clarity, management wishes to state that the Graduands list on the University website is a VERIFICATION PORTAL for students to check and accept or reject the information contained therein.” It also said corrections were being effected on the portal, saying “lessons are being learned while corrections are being immediately effected on the we “Notwithstanding, because this is the university’s maiden deployment of such an interactive portal for its convocation, some initial hiccups and inadvertent errors are to be expected.”
