Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Tradional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has conferred the Senator representing his domain, Muhammad-Enagi Bimawith the traditional title of Durjiman Nupe.
The traditional leader made the announcement on Monday via a later delivered to Mr Bims by royal emissaries in his hometown of Enagi.
According to the later, Bida Emirate Council’s decision was as a result of Mr Bima’s “impressive and sincere commitments towards instilling development not only in Nupeland and Niger State but Nigeria at large.”
According to history, Durjima, which means ‘backbone, is a ranking title conferred on someone who is not a prince but has ultimately contributed to the development of the kingdom.
Until his retirement, Mr Bima was a Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. He became a senator on the platform the All Progressives Change in 2019, after defeating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Baba Shehu Agaie
