Ex-Buhari’s minister, Mama Taraba, set to rejoin PDP

President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, is set to dump her former political party, the United Democratic Party (UDP) to join the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

Senator Alhassan had following the mass exodus that hit the PDP in 2014/5 teamed up with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was appointed minister from 2015 to 2018 before she dumped the APC for the UDP where she contested as governorship candidate in 2019 and lost Ishaku Darius of the PDP.  

The former minister, who was in Government House Yola to pay a courtesy on Governor Darius Ishaku, said she is ever ready to contribute her quarter to the success of the present administration in the state.

She said all Tarabans must join hands with the Governor Ishaku to enable him develop the state.

“You are the father of Taraba, our father and the leader of the rescue team. In any contest, they must winner and loser, and it is God that gives power.

“All of us who contested alongside with you in 2019 and lost out must put away our differences and contribute to see that the best is given to Tarabans”, she said.

She explained that her visit to Governor Ishaku was in return to an earlier visit to her at personal residence in Jalingo by the governor when she returned from her medical tourism abroad.

She said she found it necessary to pay homage to the governor as a way of saying a big thank you to the governor.

On his part, Governor Ishaku described Senator Aisha as a woman of substance who hardly give up in the pursuit of her political career. 

The governor urged the supporters of the PDP who sees her in past as enemy should embrace as their own in the PDP family.
